Well, i am not sure to feel wow about it or bad about it. In one way its good to see that, humans are finding news ways of applying technology and making life of every human being better but if you look at it on the other side its making human lazier everyday. If you need a robot to serve you tea then you should be really busy or you dont have a cook at home thats what the designer would have thought while designing it. But once it is into the market, it can be purchased only the high class people just to show off that hey look we got a RObot to serve tea and its going to make the lazy people still lazier...
Someday its going to be robots everywhere like the movie iRObot. Well i would be happy if these guys can think of developing something like the robots and virtual reality systems as in some arnold movie - trip to mars or something... ;)

300 - Movie

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_gXig4WH1B20/RgDJijDwiRI/AAAAAAAAAA4/20SnJdyrGyw/s320/wallpaper_07.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5044253178018695442" />
Last Weekend, i had a chance to see the movie "300". AMAZING Special effects, i guess this movie could change the way movies are produced. Though the movie is filled with lot of action & blood, its gr8 to watch. I just imagine from where did they get those 300 men with flat abs and 6 packs. The movie doesn't have a top hollywood actor but that doesn't seem to affect the movie since i believe snyder[Played the role of Leonadis] is surely going to be a top hollywood actor sooner. I am not too sure, i got to hear from my friend that the entire movie was shot before a Blue Screen and there was only one outdoor shoot. If that was true - ohhh man this movie is AMAZING, i never ever even felt that this scene was animated or digitally enhanced - it was so good and realistic. Hats off to the technical team, that was one amazing job and someone please inform the Bollywood & Tollywood directors to watch this movie and better use technology for providing some beyond life experience than making some stupid snake animation, adding a big undie to elephant, etc...
Movie worth watching for Action Movie Lovers...

I would rate the movie 4/5
Source: http://300themovie.warnerbros.com

Salutation to a Hero of the Nation...

Late Mr. Surjan Singh Bhandari
N.S.G. Sadly On 19th May 2004 he lost the Toughest an d Longest battle against life exactly after 600 Days being in Coma, he lost this life.

The Bullet which hit him in the head made him Unconscious for almost 600 days. His family members were hoping that one day their Hero will open his eyes but he didn't.

It was the Longest Wait for the family members of this Brave Man. When the whole India was busy in Guessing Who will be the Next PM of the country - Will it be Sonia or will it be Manmohan Singh, This man was fighting his Last battle. But it's so sad that in the hype of all the Political Drama, the News about his Death was Lost like a needle in a hay stack! Even the leading News Papers & So Called Best News Channels
of India which Works on 24 X 7 basis, failed to highlight this story of the Brave Man. Unfortunately it was mentioned somewhere on the middle page of some newspaper.....This was the Reward for the Brave task for which he lost his life.

Besides his Family members, only one thing was there with him during those toughest 600 days. It was there near his bed till the last Moment. Can you guess what it was?............... It was the "Tiranga", yes! Our National Flag, which was saluting him for his Great cause. Absolutely No words can suffice our Gratitude towards him...

If news papers refuse to cover, TV channels refuse to cover, let us do our bit.

Windows Vista: What's in a name?

http://techrepublic.com.com/5100-10877_11-5810058.html

At first glance, "Vista" sounds more like a moniker that Microsoft would use as a codename for a project under development than a bona fide product name, but it's actually kind of refreshing--especially, when you think about past Windows desktop product names, like Windows 1.0 - 3.11, Windows 95, 98 and 2000, and Windows NT, ME, and XP. So, giving the new operating system a real name is a big change for Microsoft.

This shift reminded me of reading about the origin of the name "Windows." Scanning through my bookshelf I located the book titled "Gates" by Stephen Manes and Paul Andrews and began skimming through the chapters on Microsoft's early days. Soon I found the history what I was looking for.

At the Fall 1982 Comdex convention in Las Vegas, Bill Gates saw a demo of a new integrated software system called VisiOn, from VisiCorp of VisiCalc fame, which featured a primitive graphical user interface, displayed applications in windows, used a mouse for navigation, and it was running on an IBM PC. Fearing that VisiOn might easily supersede DOS and VisiCorp could potentially replace Microsoft as IBM's partner, Gates learned as much about VisiOn as he could and proceeded to oversee the development of a competing operating system product he dubbed "Interface Manager."

As the operating system progressed through the development cycle, the name stuck as Gates and other Microsoft employees had become attached to it. That is until Rowland Hanson, a veteran marketing wiz who had taken on the role of crafting Microsoft's public image, had devised a marketing campaign designed to make Microsoft a brand name by using the company name as the generic first name of every one of the company's products. He also redirected the naming of the software products to using a product name that communicated product tasks or features. For example, "Microsoft Word" became the name for the company's word processing software.

When Hanson saw Interface Manager and was tasked with developing a marketing campaign, he immediately recognized that the main feature of the product were the windows that you saw on the screen and used as the new tools to perform your work. As such, to Hanson the logical name for the product was "Windows" and the rest is history, as they say.

So now we have "Windows Vista," a name that really seems to be taking the company in a different direction as far as product naming schemes go. Not only is the "Vista" name something new, but something else appears to be missing. Read On:-

An atheist professor of philosophy speaks to his class on the problem science has with God, The Almighty.
He asks one of his new students to stand and.....

Professor: So you believe in God?
Student: Absolutely, sir.

Professor: Is God good?
Student: Sure.

Professor: Is God all-powerful?
Student : Yes.

Professor: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to God to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But God didn't. How is this God good then? Hmm? (Student is silent.)
Professor: You can't answer, can you? Let's start again, young fella. Is God good?
Student :Yes.

Professor: Is Satan good?
Student : No.

Professor: Where does Satan come from?
Student : From...God...

Professor: That's right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?
Student : Yes.

Professor: Evil is everywhere, isn't it? And God did make everything. Correct?
Student : Yes.

Professor: So who created evil? (Student does not answer.)
Professor: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don't they?
Student :Yes, sir.

Professor: So, who created them? (Student has no answer.)
Professor: Science says you have 5 senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Tell me, son...Have you ever seen God?
Student : No, sir.

Professor: Tell us if you have ever heard your God?
Student : No , sir.

Professor: Have you ever felt your God, tasted your God, smelled your God? Have you ever had any sensory perception of God for that matter?
Student : No, sir. I'm afraid I haven't.

Professor: Yet you still believe in Him?
Student : Yes.

Professor: According to empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your GOD doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son?
Student : Nothing. I only have my faith.

Professor: Yes. Faith. And that is the problem science has.
Student : Professor, is there such a thing as heat?

Professor: Yes.
Student : And is there such a thing as cold?

Professor: Yes.
Student : No sir. There isn't. (The lecture theatre becomes very quiet with this turn of events.)
Student : Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don't have anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.
(There is pin-drop silence in the lecture theatre.)
Student : What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?

Professor: Yes. What is night if there isn't darkness?
Student : You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light.... But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it? In reality, darkness isn't. If it were, you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn't you?

Professor: So what is the point you are making, young man?
Student : Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.

Professor: Flawed? Can you explain how?
Student : Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue there is life and then there is death, a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can't even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?

Professor: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.
Student : Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?
(The Professor shakes his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument is going.)
Student : Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher? (The class is in uproar.)
Student : Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor's brain? (The class breaks out into laughter.)
Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor's brain, felt it, touched or smelled it?.....No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir? (The room is silent. The professor stares at the student, his face unfathomable.)

Professor: I guess you'll have to take them on faith, son.
Student : That is it, sir.. The link between man & god is FAITH. That is all that keeps things moving & alive.
..................
..................
..................
That young man was ALBERT EINSTEIN.......
--
You are the sum total of the choices you have made.
So who do you choose to be?

Fate as I call it - But why???

If you had gone through my previuos post, you can understand the level of variation my mind undergoes. Its really funny when I think about myself, I devote myself to anything I do and end up in trouble, when I am not able to handle the situation. Positive side is I give good results when I am in a positive mood and equally stupid results If I were to be a bit depressed.

Well let me continue and add the second part of the movie to the previuos post.

In Part - I of the movie, I lose the keys and reach home in the morning. Second part is a bit short and straight forward without any drama being added. Key didn't leave me, she was always with me which I never realized and doubted the Love and Trust she had on me. Ok back to the flash back style, Lets go a bit behind around 10 PM the previus night. I came out of office with Ganapathi to have a smoke. I came down and was about to insert my keys into blacky but by mistake i hadn't and left her hanging on the tank. That was the last moment she had a feel on my favourite hand and she was left alone stranded on the bike with no way to reach her home[Bike Lock] not her secure place my pocket.
She was left alone... yeah I left her what a stupid guy am I to be. While I was busy smoking and discussing the same useless things with raman, she was slowly slipping on the tank due to the slippery surface. She tried holding back but it was too slippery and neither she had any grip to fix. Struggling hard she had to fall... that should have been a painful one... She fell from the tank hit the wires, tried holding on to them but couldn't... Somehow she managed to jump on to the Bike engine. But even then luck wasn't on her side, engine was burining hot and it cleared its vengeance her. Yeah the engine always hates her.

Actually my Engine is a cool guy who wants to take rest and feels happy in a hibernated state. Its my key which ignites her and makes me kick him to run and burn. So it was the right time for him to kick her out of him. Hurt and burnt she had to roll to get to place she can place herself. Secure wasn't she anymore and she had to find a place...Where there is a Will there is a way so did she find a way to secure herself. There she found the friendly wires running next to the macho engine which gave her a helping hand. She had almost fainted by now without any power to fight anymore losing all her energy. Wires, understanding the situation took her and gave a firm bed to hold and stay on.

Meanwhile not realizing all the cruelty being shown to my key, I was busy searching for her - cursing, screaming and blaming with a half sleepish mind. Later I started home in the morning and was happy to find a duplicate of her. I had to return to office after a short nap with nightmares on what would happen if someone were to take away my blacky. I rushed to office and took my blacky home. on the way i ensured to make a clone of the existing duplicate so that I am safe even if the current one betrays me.

Well I reached home happily that I have my road romeo back with a slight hitch - Is she still Secure?!!. I reached home and as usual sat to chat with my roomies.. The real twist in the story started now. Hari anna called me out and showed me the KEY??!!. I was shocked, AM I to feel happy that I found her or blame myself for the carelessness I showed towards her or to curse myself for doubting her honesty. hmmm whatever it is she is back and gone or my worries. She is back.. yeah she is really back... Its not a dream but the next question was HOW??!! HOW?!!... Above all how come they found it and how did she manage to cling on to blacky for almost 20 Kilometers and still managing to reach home.

Anyways SHE is back and I am happy....

SO HAPPY ENDING....

I guess, like the key I need to stick on to my goals and come what may I need to reach it.That was Good Learning I had from my bike

Fate, as I call it....

Is it fate or Bad Luck or I have gone nuts???... Last two days have been the worst days in my life. Hmm... Worst days could have been before but for now these 2 days have screwed up my happiness & blown away my dreams...

I was slowly recovering from yesterdays disaster and had decided to work on the tool tonight. Today I had to work from 2-12 Midnight, as this week being a Marketing WEEK??!!. I signed out of office at 1AM and when I reached my bike found that I am missing my bike keys. I scanned the entire office for another 2 hours & atlast concluded that I have lost the keys. I have no option to go home as its toooo late for a bus or auto. So found some time to update my blog...

Ok like Alaypayuthey, Let me explain how I lost my key...

At 11.30, ban called me and had a nice chat discussing about Pangu getting married to some Goa girl... Then around 11.45 when I was about to log out and start home...As usual our hero called me and asked me to attend a Customer Issue... Oh not today, tomorrow is a holiday, John is coming to chennai & we had planned to watch transporter 2... Unwilling I had to log onto the customer machine with ganapathi and the issue was a simpler one and got it fixed in another 45 minutes... Then I was about to start...

Ok Another Flashback... Around 8 PM, it was boring @ office and I decided to go out and book the tickets for Transporter. Called john & confirmed his appointments. Took Jeyaram with me to Sathyam & got my tickets booked. Had a cool Puff... Hmmm I don't know what i get by smoking, there is nothing much taste or hang about it but i liked its companionship... Then moved to Ban's house and gave the tickets and got back to office...

Ok Lets fast forward to 10 PM... Ban came to my office to give me the SanDisk and this could be the ultimate reason y i lost my keys i guess... Hmmm I wasn't planning to go for a puff, but we wanted to try the Kent Cigarette which i had traded for Marlboro with Nattu. When Ban handed me the SanDisk, [Crucial Spot], i took the sandisk & placed it in my right pant pocket... i guess the key would have moved up and was close to jump out of my pocket. Key must have been hanging out of my pocket, it tried to stay back but i never realized. The villain Ken Cigarette played the plot and lured me to go out for a puff with ban... Still the Key stayed in my pocket, hanging on till the lost moment honestful to his master[thats me Jai]... those were the final moments of my bike key. Not realizing the danger which is going to happen to my keys i moved with ban to the nearby shop... Standing before the electric lighter... as i lightened the brim of my cigarette the key was reaching it final seconds... as i starting sucking the cigar, the smoke slowly started entering my mouth, tongue felt the menthol taste and a cool wave passed through my throat, burnt my lungs and reached my liver... while next to my liver in my pocket, key was in the last moments about to commit suicide by falling out from my pocket... That was the last moment i had a feel of the keys... Then I got back to my office and as usual ??!! started working...

Ok lets now move to 1AM... I left office and checked for keys... Only then I realized my keys are missing.. first I felt it should be sleeping on my desk or in my drawer.. slowly i ran back to my desk hoping to wake my keys, go home and have a nice sleep. Then the kahani may twist started... she[Keys] was not sleeping in my desk nor found anywhere in my office... Shiver started flowing through my body thinking what have I done to her... Is she really missing or playing hide and seek with me... oh god enough of the play, show yourself i need to go home sleep and lot of plans are awaiting me in the morning... She was not found anywhere..I checked out the entire office and then slowly trackbacked the path to the shop and parking slot... oh no have I lost her... Slowly I started making calls to my friends... First Ganapthi, he was the one with me when I left office, has he taken her... No was the reply... Finally tried reaching the true villain who made me lose her - Ban... but he never responded. guess he is happily sleeping with his own pair of keys...

With hopes that i will find her, I kept searching.. with every second passing by, my hopes started decreasing... Every one started searching in my office... but bad luck was on my side and she was not found anywhere... Its already late right now neither do I have the technology to clone her or do I have another bike to access her duplicate... oh god... whats this... Finally...the security who was searching along with me said those 3 words... TIG...Trust In GOD...hahaha... No more I can trust she is gone with someone... She is no more mine. Some one has her, she may not be loyal to me anymore. She has eloped with someone else... if her new master has planned to take away my blacky... oh no I can't imagine that... Blacky is my only hope n companion now... I can't trust her anymore, she is someone else's key now... like any girl she might play prank and take away my blacky...

I would not blame her... It was my mistake that I lost her... She was & will always be a good servant to her master... hmm thats the problem... she can help her new master take away my blacky... ok now i need to find a replacement for her or secure my blacky from her viciuos touch.

Well She is gone, so is my sleep, happiness, plans to celebrate republic day... hmmm... Its already 4.15 am, i have not slept still thinking of her... She has left me with a deeeeep scar in my heart.

Well, that was too much for a Lost Key... I guess i have a duplicate @ home or else things will turn worse need to get a Keymaker and get a replacement first.. then change the lock... Thats the painful part, I need to change the entire Lock set & also the Petrol tank lock... Worse that might cost me a whole 1000 rupess....

Oh god, what a bad day... First you shattered away my dream & now u have taken my keys too... Hmmm fine I can't blame u for my mistakess.... Well There is another major disaster which happened yesterday.. which i am not interested to share cos that was a secret and only few people know it and it might die as a secret... Thats the worse part when you have something deep in your heart & mind, Which u want to let out and was planning for a day to announce it and only on the final day you realize it is shattered and you cant announce it or vent out the feeling by sharing the disaster as it has been a secret - it dies within the heart leaving behind a deep scar. All through my life I had a lot of secrets which have peaked heights and at the final moment crashed with in my heart as secret. My heart is slowly turning into a big deep shit of crashes unknown to the world. I am like a clown crying behind the smiling mask which I wear for my society. Slowly I have started to master the skill of acting clown that nothing matters huge for me....

Well you could see even a small key loss is affecting me so much as if i have lost my life... but the best part is these things stay in my heart, hurt, prick for a while make me think is it fate or is it written in forehead that i will be a bigtime loser entire life But none have affected me too strong to hurt me bad. They are like tourist - visited, enjoyed and left and will return sooner ... my life is kind of a sine wave - regular ups & downs. but nowadays, the southern side is too deep that i doubt i have a northward movement anymore... the sine wave is slowly dying and decided to go in the south direction...

haha but deep down somewher i have a strong feeling that I can fight back move up and reach the peak to fall down... I will and I have to... there is no other option left out rather than to fight back and try to change the direction and make it move north... but it takes more pains to make a deep diving dart to turn and move upwards... the strong antigravitational pull where am i to find it... I hope its within me... Let me fight... No fate, no luck, no god's grace can I wait for anymore.. Its only me and I have to change my fate... Thats why I say...

Fate, I hate to call it....

My Recent Trip

My recent trip to Hyderabad was an unforgettable experience. Guess what??!!... Yeah..Oh oh... No Dirty Thoughts... I Flew for the first time in my life... Hey i didn't fly.. but I was inside an Aeroplane...Cool.
I got my tickets booked online thru ban & my flight was scheduled at 7.06 through Air Deccan [Cheapest Airliner in India]. I went to office in the after noon to submit a few reports which were requested by my US sales folks. Got back home at 4 in the evening and got my things packed. Wow then the best part started, around 5.30 it started raining & around 5.45 it was heavy. I had to drive my bike in the rain & reach the Airport. Excitement started creeping as time progressed and i got into the Airport lobby. I was giving a gazy at things around... everything looked strange for though I was educated and can carry myself. Well then the worst thing happened. The security at the gate was watching me from the time i entered the airport & well he has decided I must be some suicide bomber. haha yeah I was carrying a carry bag & the Rain Coat init which made it look huge. The security started moving towards me and i knew what he had in his mind. Oh boy!!! I am going 2 be dead... Jus think if that security by mistake pulls out that trigger, I will be flying straight to heaven n not to hyderabad...it was disgusting to be questioned by a security "Hey, Do you have the tickets???". Well then I decided to act professional, Well started moving n had my Boarding pass...

Few minutes later I boarded a bus to reach the Flight. It was Wrizzling.. We stopped near the Flight n there was standing the Flight..[Hmm.. It was a small one but ok for the first trip]... Then Sometyhing flashed ... Hmm In the movie "Air Force One", Harrison Ford would be running towards his "Air Force One" while it is wrizzling.. I had a similar effect in front of me... Only difference... I am instead on Harrison Ford... Small Flight instead of the Air Force One... Ha ha... While I was walking towards the flight, i had the same feel like a president moving to his "Air Force One", ok some day i will become so big that i will have a private jet like Surya has in the movie "Gajini".

I got into the flight, Wow Ai Hostes... Hmm... Cooolll.. turned left to enter the seats, hey what is this.. Its is so small.. come on.. I though of a big one.. this is siilar to the local bus.. only thing here we have an beautiful Air Hostess instead of a browny conductor... Hmm [Kudutha kasukku ivlo thanda kedaikum nenachikittane]...
Flight Captain was Mr.Dragon..hmm sounded funny... is he going to fry all the birds in the sky and serve it in... mhmmm that would be deliciious.. haha..
Ok i reached Hyderbad.. Jill came to pick me up... rest i will add it tomorrow...

Todays Quote

"Anger quote: Beware the fury of a patient man." - John Dryden

Am I on the right Track??? [I must be crazy]

Its been a long time i posted on my blog. Well I was sort of busy(haha that was a good joke..) Well another reason could be like... as usual I am bit lazy to update my blog. Ok let get back to the post...

Well last month i made a decision which could change my entire life for good or bad... I have decided to spend my time worthwhile. I have decided to develop a software & sell. Hey thats a gr8 idea thats what ran thru my mind, but only now i realize starting a company or creating a product is not that easy. that too coding a product when you are parallely working in a company as a Marketer is pure fun... In company i wera the hat of a Marketer or Product Manager [Wow, that sounds gr8 but life yuks...always with issues & Sales???!!!], then in the vening come home and start coding... thats the interesting part... Its been 4 years since i had last coded and now its gr8 time back to coding... To be frank i am a good knowledge worker[Microsoft term for copying others Code],... I am good at taking code from other sample & free source applications & develop a product of my own...

I dont know i have mastered this of skill developing something out of others ideas... but dont think i am just another copier... I am innovative at gettting the core idea and I split it into different pieces, then i start hunting for ways & code to implement it.... thats how i am trying to implement this software... so does that mean i am a good Project Manager... ahaha...

Last 3 weeks was the worst part, I skipped all my weekends from movies, roaming, beach walking to coding...coding...coding... i dont know all of a sudden there is one strong force pushing me from inside to do it...

Hey i forgot to say the basic idea behind which i started the company is "One Million in One Year",. Sounds so stupid but i made the maths & I feel that should be feasible. Though may not be in the first year but should be in the 2-3years span... Hey you got to start from some where right.

Ok guys I am searching for a company name... If anyone has good ideas let me know... Basically the software will be a tool targetted at sales people. Yesterday we though of iPepTools & Myth Tools... Hmm jsut think if i were to come b4 u n say "hi, I am from Myth Corp.",, hmmm sounds majestic... Hey it doesn't matter whether we start a company or make it big... but need to feel it & do it with style my style[???!!!]... hahah i guess its too much for the day... i got more to add tomorrow...

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://spkfree.blogspot.com/2005/11/am-i-on-right-track-i-must-be-crazy.html' title='Am I on the right Track??? He lived with his son and his sole horse. He lived his life in silence, and the maximum he could speak was, “what you know is part, the whole is always hidden”.

Once the King spotted the stud horse in the wild, and approached the old man to buy it. The old man refused to sell it off even when he was offered few million gold coins. The king returned disappointed, and it was the time for the people around to do their commenting business. They said what a sick old man you are, and you could be only foolish to put down such an offer. Then old man replied, “what you know is part, the whole is always hidden.”

Few weeks later his horse while grazing brought along some 10 other horses home. Now the old man possessed 10 mighty horses, and the people thought the old man was right by not giving the horse to the king. They came to the old man to praise him, and he replied, “what you know is part, the whole is always hidden.”

The old man’s son while training the wild horses that their horse brought home falls down and breaks his leg. The injury is so severe that the son surely could not walk for a year or so. The people were back now. They said, 10 horses huh! They only made losses to you old man, now what do you say? He coolly replied, “what you know is part, the whole is always hidden”.

There was an emergency in the kingdom and, as the number of soldiers killed in the battle was high the King needed at least one person from the family to take up the ammunition and fight for the kingdom. The only people who were excluded were, people above the age of 50 and also people who are handicapped.

The people were back again. They said, even though your son is handicapped you will at least have your son beside you unlike us who have to send our children to wage war. The old man replied, “what you know is part, the whole is STILL hidden”.

Moral of the story – None can interpret the interconnectedness of life COMPLETELY!

Quote of the Day

Nothing travels faster than the speed of light with the possible exception of bad news, which obeys its own special laws.

- Douglas Adams

I am happy cos i wanted it to be

Today, hmm as usual customer issues and add a major hurricane is going to hit me this weekend. I cant undertsand nowadays i am not that active, I am always dull, feeling sleepy or cribbing on a topic which i cant change and will also not try to change it. I am such a lazy A**h0**. But i always feel life has to be cool, simple & happier but my inner thing always craves for more eventually making me land in trouble and pains. People say you need to
have high aspirations and become this, that when u reach 40 or 50. But what
do u do after that...linger on the pains u took to reach that spot or still go with it. some people say after that i will be happy, but how??? U have lost ur beautiful days struggling to settle down n grow big n at the age of taking rest you want to settle down. That will never be possible. Hmm think of me i have a shorts which i wear at hom too short but keeps me relaxed but people say i have to dress well at this age and not with some skimpy dress. hmm what a life...i cant wear what i want.... alwyas living for the society n not for my internal happiness...hmmm back to happiness...

I am happy cos i wanted it to be,... but i am a big time Lazyyyy chapppp

Quote for the day

"Continuous effort -- not strength or intelligence -- is the key to unlocking our potential."

Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965)
British prime minister during WWII

Quote of the Day

"Finding the right work is like discovering your own soul in the world."

- Thomas Moore
(He is famous US basket ball player.)

1. I have missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I have lost almost
300 games. 26 times, I have been trusted to take the game winning shot
and missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And
that is why I succeed.

2. I can accept failure, but I can't accept not trying.

3. Because I know if I do, then I can expect half-hearted results.

4. If you are trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work
around it.

4. At any cost don?t let your hope down, we are here to support you
Always keep in mind that ?what do you want right now?' 'What is
lacking behind YOU to get that?' 'What has to be done to get as early as possible?' To overcome all the above mentioned questions, always there is only one thing with you...That is 'Continuous hard work without loosing rays of hope'...."
<img The literal meaning of the mantra is:

O God! You are Omnipresent, Omnipotent and Almighty. You are all Light. You are all Knowledge and Bliss. You are Destroyer of fear, You are Creator of this Universe, You are the Greatest of all. We bow and meditate upon Your light. You guide our intellect in the right direction.

The mantra, however, has a great scientific import too, which somehow got lost in the literary tradition. The modern astrophysics and astronomy tell us that our Galaxy called Milky Way or Akash-Ganga contains approximately 100,000 million of stars. Each star is like our sun having its own planet system. We know that the moon moves round the earth and the earth moves round the sun along with the moon. All planets round the sun. Each of the above bodies revolves round at its own axis as well. Our sun along with its family takes one round of the galactic centre in 22.5 crore years.

All galaxies including ours are moving away at a terrific velocity of 20,000 miles per second. And now the alternative scientific meaning of the mantra step by step:

(A) Om bhur bhuvah swah:
Bhur the earth, bhuvah the planets (solar family), swah the Galaxy. We observe that when an ordinary fan with a speed of 900 RPM (rotations Per minute) moves, it makes noise. Then, one can imagine, what great noise would be created when the galaxies move with a speed of 20,000 miles per second. This is what this portion of the mantra explains that the sound produced due to the fast-moving earth, planets and galaxies is Om.

The sound was heard during meditation by Rishi Vishvamitra, who mentioned it to other colleagues. All of them, then unanimously decided to call this sound Om the name of God, because this sound is available in all the three periods of time, hence it is set (permanent). Therefore, it was the first never revolutionary idea to identify formless God with a specific title (form) called upadhi. Until that time, everybody recognized God as formless and nobody was prepared to accept this new idea. In the Gita also, it is said, "Omiti ekaksharam brahma", meaning that the name of the Supreme is Om, which contains only one syllable (8/12). This sound Om heard during samadhi was called by all the seers nada-brahma a very great noise), but not a noise that is normally beyond a specific amplitude and limits of decibels suited
to human hearing. Hence the rishis called this sound Udgith musical sound of the above, i.e., heaven. They also noticed that the infinite mass of galaxies moving with a velocity of 20,000 miles/second was generating a kinetic energy = 1/2 MV2 and this was balancing the total energy consumption of the cosmos. Hence they named it Pranavah, which means the body (vapu) or store house of energy (prana).

(B) Tat savitur varenyam:
Tat that (God), savitur the sun (star), varenyam worthy of bowing or respect. Once the form of a person along with the name is known to us, we may locate the specific person. Hence the two titles (upadhi) provide the solid ground to identify the formless God, Vishvamitra suggested. He told us that we could know (realize) the unknowable formless. God through the known factors, viz., sound Om and light of suns (stars).A mathematician can solve an equation x2+y2=4; if x=2; then y can be known and so on. An engineer can measure the width of a river even by standing at the river bank just by drawing a triangle. So was the scientific method suggested by Vishvamitra in the mantra in the next portion as under:-

(C) Bhargo devasya dheemahi:
Bhargo the light, devasya of the deity, dheemahi we should meditate. The rishi instructs us to meditate upon the available form (light of suns) to discover the formless Creator (God). Also he wants us to do japa of the word Om (this is understood in the Mantra). This is how the sage wants us to proceed, but there is a great problem to realise it, as the human mind is so shaky and restless that without the grace of the Supreme (Brahma) it cannot be controlled. Hence Vishvamitra suggests the way to pray Him as under:

(D) Dhiyo yo nah prachodayat:

Dhiyo (intellect), yo (who), nah (we all), prachodayat (guide to right Direction). O God! Deploy our intellect on the right path. Full scientific interpretation of the Mantra: The earth (bhur), the planets (bhuvah), and the galaxies(swah) are moving at a very great velocity, the sound produced is Om, (the name of formless God.) That God (tat), who manifests Himself in the form of light of suns (savitur) is worthy of bowing/respect(varenyam). We all, therefore, should meditate (dheemahi) upon the light (bhargo) of that deity (devasya) and also do chanting of Om. May He (yo) guide in right direction (prachodayat) our (nah) intellect dhiyo So we notice that the important points hinted in the mantra are:-

1) The total kinetic energy generated by the movement galaxies acts as an umbrella and balances the total energy consumption of the cosmos. Hence it was named as the Pranavah (body of energy). This is equal to 1/2 mv2 (Mass of galaxies x velocity2).

2) Realising the great importance of the syllable OM, the other later date religions adopted this word with a slight change in accent, viz., amen and Ameen.

3)The God could be realised through the saguna (gross), upasana (method), i.e., a) by chanting the name of the supreme as OM and b) by meditating upon the light emitted by stars (suns).

Thought for the Day

"The key to success is for you to make a habit throughout your life of doing the things you fear."

Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890)
Dutch painter
first career: art salesman

A Public Proposal

It was after 11 p.m. the overbooked flight was already an hour late for takeoff, and the crowd was getting grumpy. If ever there was a chance to practice peace in the midst of annoyance, this was it.

Finally we were herded onto the plane and I settled into my seat, with hopes of getting some shuteye. As soon as we reached cruising altitude, the flight attendant’s voice boomed over the P.A. system: “Ladies and gentlemen, one of our passengers would like to request your assistance with a special event he is planning when we land. Dave in seat 17B is going to propose to his girlfriend, who is meeting him at the gate. He would like you to help him deliver some flowers to her. If 24 of you would each get one rose from Dave and give it to his lady before he gets off the plane, you can participate in his proposal. Dave will show you a photo of Heidi . . . to make sure the right lady gets the flowers.”

Ah, what a wonderful idea! I wanted to participate, but I was seated too far from Dave to get to a rose before the other passengers. When we landed, however, I was one of the first off the plane, and I positioned myself off to the side to watch the romantic spectacle.

Sure enough, there stood a lovely young woman waiting for her man. One by one, passengers exited the aircraft, each with a red rose in hand. With a smile, each person delivered a flower to Heidi, who shyly received them. Then the passengers formed a semi-circle behind Heidi, waiting for Dave and the Big Question.

Finally all the passengers had left the aircraft - except for Dave. The flight crew exited, but the groom-to-be was still conspicuously absent. Then the pilot and copilot emerged. They closed the door behind them, commenting, “Well, I guess that’s it for the night.” The crowd stood silently, watching, waiting, and hoping. Had Dave chickened out?

Suddenly, with all the aplomb of a Hollywood epic, the airplane door swung open one last time, now to reveal a handsome young man in a bright sailor suit. Dave had arrived. The audience breathed a welcome sigh of relief.

The knight in white, carrying yet another dozen red roses, strode proudly to his lady-in-waiting (who by now looked like Miss America, flowers piled to her nose). Tears streamed down her cheeks as she nervously watched her man approach, knowing full well what was about to happen.

Dave presented her with the flowers and ceremoniously dropped to one knee. The audience was rapt. By now it was nearly 1 a.m., but no one was going anywhere. Over 100 people fell silent and watched with awe.

Then he did it. He really did it. Dave produced a glittering gold ring and asked Heidi, “Will you marry me?” Of course she would. She tearfully nodded, and he slipped the ring onto her quivering fourth finger. With that, a great cheer and burst of applause went up from the jubilant crowd. The ovation reverberated through the silent airport, and probably still echoes today.

One by one, the group congratulated the couple and then we all made our way toward baggage claim together. The corridor was filled with laughter, chatter, and storytelling. People were happy.

Then something very profound occurred to me: the entire crowd had been transformed. Over a hundred people who had been tired, impatient, and frazzled two hours earlier, were suddenly awake, joy-filled, and playing with each other. Such is the transformative power of one sincere expression of love.

We have been told that energy and fatigue depend on the time of day, how many hours of sleep we have had, stress, environment, age, and many other factors. Yet here was a group of people who had been awake for a long time, traveling under stressful conditions in an unnatural environment, yet they had more energy when they got off the plane than when they began!

Energy and happiness have little to do with what is going on around you, and a lot to do with what is going on inside you. You can find yourself in ideal conditions and be miserable, and you can be in the most adverse conditions and soar. Environment and physical factors may influence us, but attitude makes or breaks us. You may not be able to change your environment, but you can always change your mind.

Joy is the wild card of life; it supersedes every other formula for success. If you can find a way to create joy, you can rise beyond all external factors. If you can play at whatever you are doing, you are the master of your life. And if you should ever have the occasion to make a public proposal, you can take a planeload of 100 bugged and weary people, and turn their evening into a party they will never forget.

I’m Starting to Like this Guy

At a recent seminar a fellow named Ted stood and reported, “As a child, I saw my wealthy parents struggle, fight, and get greedy over money — and let it run their lives. As a result, when I became a civil trial lawyer, I resisted making a lot of money or making it an issue. Over my 30-year career, I have done a lot of pro bono work and billed my clients for fewer hours than I have put in. While my peers criticized me for undercharging, I have felt good about my practice.

“Now it’s time for me to send my children to college, and I am having financial difficulties. I wonder if I should have charged more over the years. Can you help me?”

It was obvious to me that Ted’s judgments about his parents’ relationship with money and his painful associations with it set him up to keep money at a distance. Now he needed to reframe money as his friend and recognize his worth to have what he needed.

An unusual idea popped into my head. “Ted, I want you to come onstage and face the audience,” I requested, and he acceded. Then I invited another fellow to sit in a chair on the stage. “Ted, imagine this is you sitting in the chair,” I suggested. “Now imagine you are facing a jury and you are summarizing your case for why this man, Ted, deserves to have all the money he needs to send his kids to college.”

Ted was a good sport and agreed to enact the scenario. The lawyer began an eloquent argument highlighting Ted’s positive qualities and deeds, and why he merited the needed funds. Then, in the middle of his speech, Ted interrupted his summation, pointed to “himself” sitting in the chair, and whispered off-the-cuff, “I’m starting to like this guy.”

That admission, unrehearsed and not an element of his summation, was more powerful than his statements to the jury. It arose not from Ted’s adult attorney’s mind, but his childlike heart. Ted had talked himself into appreciating who he was — and that was absolutely compelling.

During this Valentine’s month, consider falling in love with yourself. While to some this may sound vain, it is the prime requirement for happiness and success. Appreciating who you are and what you do is not simply the goal of life — it is the path to all goals. Shakespeare noted, “Self-loving is not so vile a sin, my liege, as self-neglecting.” Goethe echoed, “When you finally trust yourself, you will know how to live.”

My spiritual guide Hilda Charlton once stated that everyone on earth has veered from the remembrance of God via one of two directions: arrogance or unworthiness. The arrogant, she explained, need to be windblown by life until they gain humility. The unworthy need to be bolstered with love until they recognize their intrinsic beauty.

Many people I counsel state that they fear doing nicer things for themselves because they do not want to be too selfish or egotistical. But an egotistical person would never question their selfishness; they would just let their ego ramble on, oblivious to their behavior and its results. Most people I meet have a long, long way to go before they would overdo self-loving. To the contrary, they suffer from self-neglect. They could use a long, deep dose of self-loving.

In my seminars I ask participants to complete the statement, “If I really loved myself, I would____________.” The answers that issue from this self-inquiry are astounding! “If I really loved myself, I would quit my current job and do what I feel inspired to do.” “If I really loved myself, I would ask Sally for a date.” “If I really loved myself, I would get a massage weekly.” As the participants delve more and more deeply into what self-love would move them to do, the energy in the room gets lighter; the temperature grows warmer; the volume of their voices rises; and people laugh freely. It is an amazing to experience what happens when human beings even consider greater self-love.

While many people spend a great deal of time, effort, and money to find someone to fall in love with, they rarely consider themselves as a candidate. Yet becoming your own beloved is the first step to attracting someone who feels the same way. Before you can know your soulmate, you must know your soul. In your pursuit of a mate, the most important question to answer is, would you marry yourself? If you do not enjoy your own company, it is going to be hard for someone else to enjoy your company. People who love themselves purely, on the other hand, are the most attractive people in the world. Others are magnetically drawn to them without knowing why. They glow with an inner light absent in those who are seeking love from the outer world.

There are two kinds of people on the love path: love seekers and love finders. Love seekers are constantly seeking, and love finders are constantly finding. Those who seek find more to seek, and those who find, find more to find. Just ask Ted. He’s really starting to like this guy.

Are You Dreaming Big Enough?

by Alan Cohen

I saw a billboard prominently displaying photos of two bottles of liquor. One was a small bottle with the caption, "Regular size." The other bottle was huge, several times larger than the tiny one --its caption was, "Fantasize."

The only dreams worth entertaining are those which are far greater than the life we are already living. If we are guilty of any sin (Self-Inflicted Nonsense), it is accommodation. We hurt ourselves not by what we ask for; but by what we settle for.

When choosing a goal, be sure it is outrageous. If it is something you have already done, or think you may be able to do, you are thinking too small. Worthy dreams stretch us beyond our history and challenge our limits, calling us to live larger than we thought we were.

Here is a powerful exercise that will show you how to step into bigger shoes. On a piece of paper, write the heading, "Know I Can." Under the heading, write down three goals you are confident you can accomplish, and probably will, within a matter of time. Below that section write, "Maybe I Can." Then number 4 through 6, and write down three projects you would like to do, but wonder if you really can. These are the dreams that stretch you beyond your current boundaries, but seem within the realm of possibility. Finally, write the heading, "Outrageous," and for numbers 7 through 9, record the three most outlandish visions you can think of, the dreams that thrill you to consider, but you don't see how they could possibly happen.

The second part of the exercise requires that you read your list daily, spending about twenty seconds visualizing each goal (sixty seconds if you are inspired). Hold each image clearly in mind, and get the feeling that your objective has already been realized.

The exercise becomes even more fun as you check off each goal when it is accomplished. Your visioning will be met with miracles and support from the universe through avenues you could never have predicted. As you complete checking off the first group, the second group will slide up to a higher level of possibility; the "Maybe I Can" section will become the "Know I Can." Your excitement will further increase when the third group ascends to become the second; somehow the "Outrageous" becomes "Maybe I Can," and before too long, "Know I Can." Then you can add more to your "Maybe I Can" and "Outrageous" lists and watch them slide up like credits rolling at the end of a movie. Your only job is to stay focused, keep visualizing, and remain open to receive more than you once thought you deserved.

A recent Amway convention centered on the theme, "Think Big-Settle for More." Life operates according to universal laws which, if you tap into them, will transport you home like a mighty stallion. Life gives us not what we struggle for, but what we allow. You can come to the ocean with a thimble, a bucket, or a tank truck, and you will take with you the volume of the container you brought.

As I was leading a guided meditation I had a vision of a great light shining down on everyone in the room. The light was the abundance of the universe, the vast love of God, replete with infinite good and blessings. In the vision each person was sitting with a basket in his or her lap; some held tiny baskets, and others had huge ones. Those with small baskets were receiving a little, and those with huge baskets were receiving a lot. All was offered to all, and each gathered as much as they were willing to hold.

William Blake boldly declared, "A man's reach should exceed his grasp, or else what's a heaven for?"

Outrageous goals are valuable because they expand your belief system and carve wider neural pathways in your brain, by which your good may be delivered to you. Even if you do not achieve your highest goal immediately, you will attain far more than you would have if you entertained a smaller dream. "I used to shoot for the moon, and I hit the mountains; now I shoot for the stars, and I'm hitting the moon."

Be humble enough to admit that you don't see your highest possibilities, yet powerful enough to accept God's vision of your potential. Even our most exalted insights glimpse but a tiny portion of the big picture. In 1949, an issue of Popular Mechanics magazine featured an article by the expert on the then-new field of computers. He predicted that "by the end of the century, computers may weigh as little as 1.5 tons." I am now writing on a laptop computer that weighs 6 pounds-one five hundredth the size he predicted! The most exalted visionary of his time erred by a factor of 500! Imagine that the good you can receive is 500 hundred times more wonderful than you can imagine, and you will be taking your first step toward thinking for yourself as God thinks for you.
Can Meditation Be Fun?

This article was sent by one of my college mates Bull Boopesh... I don't practise meditation...but always wanted to and insisted.. cos meditation gives you more concentration, more than that it gives you control over your thoughts & self... Ok thats what I heard from my friends... I dont find this article making fun of Meditation rather it gave me an intro exactly what is Meditation... Sense your senses...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can Meditation Be Fun?

by Alan Watts

What we call meditation or contemplation -- for want of a better word -- is really supposed to be fun. I have some difficulty in conveying this idea because most people take anything to do with religion seriously -- and you must understand that I am not a serious person. I may be sincere, but never serious, because I don't think the universe is serious.

And the trouble comes into the world largely because various beings take themselves seriously, instead of playfully. After all, you must become serious if you think that something is desperately important, but you will only think that something is desperately important if you are afraid of losing it. In one way, however, if you fear losing something, it isn't really worth having. There are people who live in dread, and then drag on living because they are afraid to die. They will probably teach their children to do the same, and their children will in turn teach their own children to live that way. And so it goes on and on.

But let me ask you, if you were God, would you be serious? Would you want people to treat you as if you were serious? Would you want to be prayed to? Think of all the awful things that people say in their prayers. Would you want to listen to that all the time? Would you encourage it? No, not if you were God.

In the same way, meditation is different from the sort of things that people are supposed to take seriously. It doesn't have any purpose, and when you talk about practicing meditation, it's not like practicing tennis or playing the piano, which one does in order to attain a certain perfection. You practice music to become better at it, maybe even with the idea that you may someday go on stage and perform. But you don't practice meditation that way, because if you do, you are not meditating.

THE PRACTICE OF MEDITATION

The only way you can talk about practice in the context of meditation is to use the word practice in the same way as when somebody says that they practice medicine. That is their way of life, their vocation, and they do it nearly every day. Perhaps they do it the same way, day after day -- and that's fine for meditation too, because in meditation there is no right way and there is no idea of time.

In practicing and learning things, time is usually of the essence. We try to do it as fast as possible, and even find a faster way of learning how to do things. In meditation a faster way of learning is of no importance whatsoever, because one's focus is always on the present. And although growth may occur in the process, it is growth in the same way that a plant grows.

THE ESSENTIAL PROCESS

This is the beginning of meditation. You don't know what you're supposed to do, so what can you do? Well, if you don't know what you're supposed to do, you watch. You simply watch what is going on.

When somebody plays music, you listen. You just follow those sounds, and eventually you understand the music. The point can't be explained in words because music is not words, but after listening for a while, you understand the point of it, and that point is the music itself.

In exactly the same way, you can listen to all experiences, because all experiences of any kind are vibrations coming at you. As a matter of fact, you are these vibrations, and if you really feel what is happening, the awareness you have of you and of everything else is all the same. It's a sound, a vibration, all kinds of vibrations on different bands of the spectrum. Sight vibrations, emotion vibrations, touch vibrations, sound vibrations -- all these things come together and are woven, all the senses are woven, and you are a pattern in the weaving, and that pattern is the picture of what you now feel. This is always going on, whether you pay attention to it or not.

Now instead of asking what you should do about it, you experience it, because who knows what to do about it? To know what to do about this you would have to know everything, and if you don't, then the only way to begin is to watch.

Watch what's going on. Watch not only what's going on outside, but what's going on inside. Treat your own thoughts, your own reactions, your own emotions about what's going on outside as if those inside reactions were also outside things. But you are just watching. Just follow along, and simply observe how they go.

Now, you may say that this is difficult, and that you are bored by watching what is going on. But if you sit quite still, you are simply observing what is happening: all the sounds outside, all the different shapes and lights in front of your eyes, all the feelings on your skin, inside your skin, belly rumbles, thoughts going on inside your head -- chatter, chatter, chatter. "I ought to be writing a letter to so-and-so.... I should have done this" -- all this bilge is going on, but you just watch it.

You say to yourself, "But this is boring". Now watch that too. What kind of a funny feeling is it that makes you say it's boring? Where is it? Where do you feel it? "I should be doing something else instead." What's that feeling? What part of your body is it in? Is it in your head, is it in your belly, is it in the soles of your feet? Where is it? The feeling of boredom can be very interesting if you look into it.

Simply watch everything going on without attempting to change it in any way, without judging it, without calling it good or bad. Just watch it. That is the essential process of meditation.

Thought for the Day...

"An insincere and evil friend is more to be feared than a wild beast; a wild beast may wound your body, but an evil friend will wound your mind." - Buddha

16 Things NOT To Say When Your Boss Asks What You're Doing

Heres a piece for the IT Workers Guide; the top 16 things not to say when your boss walks up to you and asks What are you doing?

1. Google’s strategic plan it seems is to obviously leverage deflation to its own advantage. Free, is the only model that works against a well oiled business machine like Microsoft. Google’s recent moves show that they are using “free” to gradually devalue of Microsoft’s assets, and thus its market cap. This is part of a mutation of the OS into a whole new animal. Jason Kottke had a nice post about the evolution of operating system, and Google’s role in that evolution. My dear friend, and occasional guest poster, Robert Young, who recently theorized on Rupert Murdoch’s intentions for MySpace, in an email suggested that it is not as much an evolution, as a mutation of the OS into a whole new species. Here are his thoughts.

Guest post by Robert Young

Google’s mission statement is “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful”. At this stage, I think it should be more along the lines of Honda’s original mission statement, which was, “five Honda’s in every garage” (e.g. car, motorcycle, lawnmower, etc.). I say that because it certainly seems, with every new Google service that comes to market, my garage… er, desktop, is filling up with their stuff! So, what is Google’s master plan? These days, that’s the big question everyone seems to be asking (it used to be: “What’s the next killer app?”). Just to add more fuel to the fire, I’ll speculate alongside the rest of you. But before I provide my answer to the big question, allow me to digress a little to provide some background and perspective.

Over the years, I’ve noticed that Google’s success has largely been based on their ability to be highly counterintuitive. For instance, they started a search engine when everyone thought that game was over. They started to place ads in search results when everyone thought it was highly controversial. They introduced simple text ads when everyone was developing rich media ads. They designed an ad engine to rank the placement of ads by their effectiveness (click-through-rate) when everyone else was placing ads based on the CPM rates they were able to sell. Their performance-based ad model enabled them to initially build their business on “mom-n-pop” small business advertisers (generating billions of dollars in revenues from the long tail) when everyone else was chasing after Fortune 1000 brand advertisers.

More recently, Google has introduced services that clearly indicate their desire to build a comprehensive “platform,” one that challenges Microsoft’s dominance in this area head on (Gmail, Desktop Search, now GD2, and Google Talk). So what is Google’s master plan? I believe they are once again going counterintuitive, but in a manner that hits Microsoft where it hurts most. Google will make Microsoft’s entire strategic plan and mission, which revolves around the continued proliferation and dominance of the desktop PC operating system, obsolete by making Google itself the operating system. The model they are pursuing is very similar to Sun Microsystems’ (Jonathan Schwartz’s) vision of turning computing into a utility, like electricity. The only difference is that Google is already almost there.

To some extent, Google is bringing back the architecture of the mainframe to render Microsoft obsolete. In the future, all computing devices, whether it be the PC, mobile phone, TV, etc., will simply be terminals that “plug-in” to Google’s massive server grid and application services. With the increasing price/performance of CPUs, memory, bandwidth, and storage, Google’s strategic edge will be based on their advantageous cost of processing bits. And as long as users are comfortable sharing their private data and behavior with Google, all services will remain free (and supported by advertising).

It’s not too difficult for me to imagine a day, very soon, when I rely on Google for almost all my computing needs and I buy hardware devices based on such criteria. That’s the day Google will have become my operating system. We all know that the internet has a deflationary effect on the assets of every industry it touches, whether it be printing & publishing, media & entertainment, telephony, etc. If what I pose above is indeed true, Google is using the internet to systematically devalue Microsoft’s assets. Perhaps there will be a day on Wall Street sometime in the future that’ll be known as “Microsoft’s Black Monday.”

Cartoon of the Day

A True perfectionist...

by Alan Cohen

A friend of mine declared, "I used to think I was a perfectionist. I found the tiniest flaws in everything. Then I realized I was not a perfectionist at all; I was an imperfectionist! If I was a perfectionist, I would see perfection wherever I look."

The life we experience is the product of the vision we use to interpret events. At any moment we can see through the eyes of appreciation or criticism. And we will see more of whatever we are focusing on. We master the game of life by finding good wherever we look. And there is much good to be found.

While having lunch with some business associates at an upscale restaurant, one of our party asked the waiter for an unusual dish not on the menu. The waiter replied that he would ask the chef to accommodate the request. Then another member of our group sarcastically commented, "I'll bet that will just tweak the chef's day!"

But the waiter did not flinch. "Actually," he replied smoothly, "I'm sure he will be glad to accommodate you -- this gives him a chance to shine."

Every situation gives us a chance to shine, if we recognize our power as creative spirits. No situation is any one way, except what we make it. You can make anything out of anything. So why not make it perfect?

The story is told about a man who was walking along a city street when a flower pot fell off a sill above him and crashed at his feet, missing him by inches. There are four paths of response the man might take. First, the path of knee-jerk reaction: he would yell a curse toward the window or perhaps dash up the stairs, find the owner, and punch him out. Second, the path of the victim: this experience would confirm his belief that the world is out to get him, and he would go about the rest of his day protecting himself from evil, retelling his story many times. Third, the path of detachment: he would rationalize that this was his karma, do nothing, and just keep walking. Finally, the path of love: he would go to the flower store on the corner, buy a new plant, and deliver it to the person whose plant had been blown off the sill by the wind.

Shakespeare declared, "There is nothing good or bad, but thinking makes it so." We see the world not as it is, but as we are. Changing the world is not about setting it right, but seeing it right. If you believe the world is broken and you need to fix it, you will find more and more things broken. If you see the world as whole and beautiful, you will find more and more things to celebrate.

Ram Dass noted there are three kinds of people: those who say, "not enough!"; those who say, "too much!"; and those who say, "ah, just right!" Actually, there are just two kinds of people, for "too much" of one thing is really "not enough" of another. We are continuously choosing between affirmation and resistance.

Does seeing perfection mean we are to simply be passive observers and sit around and do nothing? Not at all. Perfection includes the process of changing, growing, expanding, improving, and moving ahead. But our actions to improve do not proceed from an attitude of pushing against lack. They proceed from a sense that things are already good, and wouldn't it be a delightful adventure to make them better? The true perfectionist creates effective change by seeing the highest possibilities and becoming so excited about them, that conditions must rise to match the vision.

Several years ago while I was walking through the Los Angeles airport, I felt annoyed by the massive construction going on. I saw ugly makeshift plywood walls to my left and right, a maze of paint-laden scaffolds, and long winding detours to baggage claim. I grumbled to myself about what a mess the place was, and how long it was taking to fix it. Then I discovered a sign that stopped me in my tracks. It was an artist's rendering of what the airport would look like when the construction was complete. It was magnificent! The glass atrium roofs, sleek marbled corridors, and potted palms were a delight to behold -- a far cry from the current mess. Then I relaxed. If that is what this is leading to, I thought, then I am glad they are doing it. When I dropped my resistance, I enjoyed the process, including the construction phase.

The entire universe is in a construction phase, never totally complete as it is, but always perfect as it unfolds. When you appreciate the beauty as you go, you become a true perfectionist.

Thought for the Day (26-Aug-2005)

"As you go along your road in life, you will, if you aim high enough, also meet resistance... but no matter how tough the opposition may seem, have courage still -- and persevere."

Madeleine Albright (1937 - )
former U.S. Secretary of State,
first foreign-born U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations

The Business Case for Podcasting

The phenomenon of Podcasting has been getting a lot of press, lately. It seems everytime you turn around, someone else has a new pocast. Should you have one, too? Perhaps. According to Forrester Research, by 2010 podcasting may have as many as 12.3 million listeners. Somebody's got to create content for all those listeners -- maybe you're one of the "somebody's".
Now, you may think Forrester's numbers are about entertainment podcasts -- music, talk, and other audio distractions. What's the point of *your* business getting into *that* business? Actually, podcasting offers you the opportunity to do more than entertain. And it's a lot more powerful than a simple personal online broadcasting platform.

When properly used, podcasting can -- and will -- take prospect contact and customer care to a whole new level... with the sound of the human voice, not just the code from a keyboard. Podcasting lets you put a human touch on your customer contacts -- and it's delivered to your subscribers' computer for you.

10 Ways Podcasting Can Help You Do Business Better

1) Reach exactly the people who ask you to

When someone subscribes to your podcast, it means they are genuinely interested in what you have to offer. They're not a "cold call" -- they're an interested prospect (or an existing customer) who has taken the time to subscribe to your podcast with the expectation that they will hear from you regularly. This model is quite different from the e-mail model, where people often opt-in with their e-mail as a reflex, and then don't bother to read the messages they receive. It's also a complete departure from direct mail, where recipients are often "hapless victims" who resent the intrusion of too many unsolicited messages.

2) Bypass the restrictions of e-mail communications - you won't get blocked by spam filters

One of the (many) beauties of podcasting, is that it's a great way to communicate with a receptive audience without being blocked by spam filters, or getting lost in an in-box. Podcast clients (or "podcatchers") can automatically pick up the latest and greatest podcast you have available, without subjecting it to a filter. iTunes does have restrictions on "explicit" content, but if you're using podcasting for business purposes, this is a non-issue. Your message will get through to people who want to hear it.

3) Tailor your message to literally speak to your prospects, for a more personal touch

The human voice is far more expressive, than an e-mail or a web page. Podcasting lets you connect with people and communicate with much more than words. Intonation, inflection, emotion, all carry on the human voice -- they get through to your audience on your podcast in ways that the written word can't.

4) Give your customers, or another target group, a personalized message they can listen to *anytime*

Another great thing about podcasting, is that your audience can listen to your audio anytime, when they use an mp3 player, like an iPod. They can also download your podcast to their computer and listen there, or burn it to a CD and take it with them. Your message gets to them on their terms, in their time, in the way they want it. Podcasting really is Personal-On-Demand-Casting. It's not just about iPods.

5) Reach your customers in a variety of ways

Podcasting isn't just only about audio, either. With your podcasts, you can include text messages that your audience reads in their podcatcher. Include website urls in your podcast, or add last-minute information they may find useful. Podcasting gives you the best of both worlds in a very small package.

6) Find out what your audience's degree of interest *really* is, with stats reporting

When you send out an e-mail or a direct mail piece, it's impossible to tell if people received it, if they read it, and how they responded to it. With podcasting, you can measure the statistics of your subscriptions and find out how many people each month are picking up your podcasts and downloading your audio. If they keep picking up your podcasts, you know you're doing something right.

7) Get real-time metrics on who's bailing on you

You can also find out if people are unsubscribing to your feeds. If your numbers go down from week to week or month to month, something may need to change. You can find this out immediately with podcasting, whereas e-mail and direct mail responses may take much longer to analyze.

8) Keep in closer touch with groups

Podcasting doesn't only have to be for businesses. Social groups can also use it, for re-broadcasting important meetings, or sending out messages to members who need to keep in touch. Recordings of training sessions and workshops can be put into mp3 and distributed via podcast, as can motivational talks. Anything a group experiences 'out loud' can be recorded and placed in a podcast, for all the members to subscribe to and enjoy later at their convenience.

9) Technology does the work for you

Because podcatchers automatically pick up the latest file(s), you don't have to notify people that the audio is available by conventional means -- including e-mail. As long as you update your feeds regularly, and your audience checks their podcatchers regularly, they will get the latest and greatest audio you have, without having to search for it.

10) A potentially huge audience is ready and waiting

Podcasting is big, because there's such a huge audience for it. iPods sell like hotcakes, and they're given away as premiums by many businesses. Gear is amply available for playing mp3s in the car, during exercise, on home stereo systems, and of course, on computers. People download podcasts, they're familiar with the concept - and downloading commercial podcasts from businesses they value and want to patronize is the next logical development in podcasting. When done properly, business podcasting can be fun, entertaining, and a valued service for valuable customers. The only barrier to putting it to good use, is the limits of human imagination.

In sum, podcasting may very well revolutionize the music broadcasting industry, but the *real* power lies in how it will impact the small and medium-sized business community. Whether you own a business yourself, or patronize those who do, there's tremendous potential for podcasting to deepen and enrich customer experience, as well as the ability of businesses to serve their valued clientele.

So, check out podcasting as a whole new way to reach the kind of people who want you to reach them. What you don't know about podcasting won't hurt you... but it won't help you, either.

Quote for the Day

"They can because they think they can."- Virgil (70bc-19bc)
Roman poet

Subhash Chandra Bose - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Some Quotes from "Netaji Subash Chandra Bose- The Real Hero"

'Give me blood and I shall give you freedom' was one of the most popular statements made by him, whereby he urged the people of India to join him in the nationalist movement.

'No real change in history has ever been acheived by discussions.'

'As soldiers, you will always have to cherish and live up to the three-ideals of faithfulness, duty and sacrifice. You can access Google News, Read blog thru RSS feeds, a Scratch Pad, Read eMails, View Photos, Quickly access files, Peep into Stocks, check out weather & whats hot on Web...hmmm looks like Google is slowly entering the OS arena... I guess any dumbster would be able to guess this having the Sidebar covering mostly used programs in it.

Also Google recently acquired a Mobile OS company "Android" which should give it the base towards a Google OS...Coool...

Plantraco's RTF Butterfly - Fly in your Livingroom!

"The World's Lightest Indoor RC Airplane!

The Butterfly Livingroom Flyer.

This portable micro flyer, fits neatly in it's 10'x16'x5' Case (included!)The Dream of an R/C airplane that can be piloted in the livingroom has been realized. Ron Gremban says such a car
is parked in his garage.

It looks like a typical Toyota Prius hybrid, but in the trunk
sits an 80-miles-per-gallon secret -- a stack of 18 brick-sized
batteries that boosts the car's high mileage with an extra
electrical charge so it can burn even less fuel.Gremban, an
electrical engineer and committed environmentalist, spent several
months and $3,000 tinkering with his car.

Like all hybrids, his Prius increases fuel efficiency by harnessing
small amounts of electricity generated during braking and coasting.
The extra batteries let him store extra power by plugging the car
into a wall outlet at his home in this San Francisco suburb -- all
for about a quarter.

He's part of a small but growing movement. 'Plug-in' hybrids aren't
yet cost-efficient, but some of the dozen known experimental models
have gotten up to 250 miles per gallon (about 402 km per gallon, or
106 km per litre)."
Hope this turns out be successfully hitting the roads...

Joel on Software - Things You Should Never Do, Part I

Joel on Software - Things You Should Never Do, Part I: "Things You Should Never Do,
Part IArticle dated back in the year 2000 but its worth reading...

Netscape 6.0 is finally going into its first public beta. There never was a
version 5.0. The last major release, version 4.0, was released almost three
years ago. Three years is an awfully long time in the Internet world. During
this time, Netscape sat by, helplessly, as their market share plummeted.
It's a bit smarmy of me to criticize them for waiting so long between releases.
They didn't do it on purpose, now, did they? Well, yes. They did. They did it
by making the single worst strategic mistake that any software company can make:
They decided to rewrite the code from scratch.

When programmers say that their code is a holy mess (as they always do), there
are three kinds of things that are wrong with it.

First, there are architectural problems. The code is not factored correctly.
The networking code is popping up its own dialog boxes from the middle of nowhere; this should have been handled in the UI code. These problems can be solved, one
at a time, by carefully moving code, refactoring, changing interfaces. They can
be done by one programmer working carefully and checking in his changes all at
once, so that nobody else is disrupted. Even fairly major architectural changes
can be done without throwing away the code. On the Juno project we spent several months rearchitecting at one point: just moving things around, cleaning them up, creating base classes that made sense, and creating sharp interfaces between the modules. But we did it carefully, with our existing code base, and we didn't introduce new bugs or throw away working code.

A second reason programmers think that their code is a mess is that it is inefficient. The rendering code in Netscape was rumored to be slow. But this only affects a small part of the project, which you can optimize or even rewrite. You don't have to rewrite the whole thing. When optimizing for speed, 1% of the work gets you 99% of the bang.

Third, the code may be doggone ugly. One project I worked on actually had a data type called a FuckedString. Another project had started out using the convention of starting member variables with an underscore, but later switched to the more standard "m_". So half the functions started with "_" and half with "m_", which looked ugly. Frankly, this is the kind of thing you solve in five minutes with a macro in Emacs, not by starting from scratch.

It's important to remember that when you start from scratch there is absolutely no reason to believe that you are going to do a better job than you did the first time. First of all, you probably don't even have the same programming team that worked on version one, so you don't actually have "more experience". You're just going to make most of the old mistakes again, and introduce some new problems that weren't in the original version. Full Article

Future of Web

Interview with Timber lee....
Tim Berners-Lee, "inventor of the World Wide Web," speaks about the launch of the next generation of his creation, the Semantic Web, in an interview run by MarketingProfs.

Whereas the web is now set up to help users find documents that may have the information you want, the Semantic Web would catalogue important data indicating the type of information, enabling a new dimension of archiving and search. The Semantic Web can therefore be thought of as a "smarter," more useful resource.

Berners-Lee says, "Yes, Google can claim to index billions of pages, but given the format of those diverse pages, there may not be a whole lot more the search engine tool can reliably do. But a very gud one !!
> > A teenager lived alone with his father, and the two of them had a
very> special relationship. The father believed in encouragement.

This young man was the smallest of the class when he entered high
> school. His father continued to encourage him but also made it very
> clear that he did not have to play football if he didn't want to. But
> the young man loved football and decided to hang in there. He was
> determined to try his best at every practice, and perhaps he'd get to
> play when he became a senior. Even though the son was always on the
> bench, his father was always in the stands cheering. He never missed a
> game.

> > All through high school he never missed neither a practice nor a game,
> but remained a bench warmer all four years. His faithful father was
> always in the stands, always with words of encouragement for him. When
> the young man went to college, he decided to try out for the football
> team as a "walk-on." Everyone was sure he could never make the cut,
> but he did. The coach admitted that he kept him on the roster because
> he always puts his heart and soul to every practice, and at the same
> time, provided the other members with the spirit and hustle they badly
> needed. The news that he had survived the cut thrilled him so much
> that he rushed to the nearest phone and called his father.

> > His father shared his excitement and was sent season tickets for all
> the college games. This persistent young athlete never missed practice
> during his four years at college, but he never got to play in the
> game. It was the end of his senior football season, and as he trotted
> onto the practice field shortly before the big play off game, the
> coach met him with a telegram. The young man read the telegram and he
> became deathly silent. Swallowing hard, he mumbled to the coach, "My
> father died this morning. Is it all right if I miss practice today?"

> > The coach put his arm gently around his shoulder and said, "Take the
> rest of the week off, son. And don't even plan to come back to the
> game on Saturday." Saturday arrived, and the game was not going well.
> In the third quarter, when the team was ten points behind, a silent
> young man quietly slipped into the empty locker room and put on his
> football gear.> As he ran onto the sidelines, the coach and his players were astounded
> to see their faithful team-mate back so soon. "Coach, please let me
> play. I've just got to play today," said the young man. The coach
> pretended not to hear him. There was no way he wanted his worst player
> in this close playoff game. But the young man persisted, and finally
> feeling sorry for the kid, the coach gave in. "All right," he said.
> "You can go in." Before long, the coach, the players and everyone in
> the stands could not believe their eyes. This little unknown, who had
> never played before, was doing everything right.

> > The opposing team could not stop him. He ran, he passed, blocked and
> tackled like a star. His team began to triumph. The score was soon
> tied. In the closing seconds of the game, this kid intercepted a pass
> and ran all the way for the winning touchdown. The fans broke loose.
> His team-mates hoisted him onto their shoulders. Such cheering you've
> never heard! Finally, after the stands had emptied and the team had
> showered and left the locker room, the coach noticed that the young
> man was sitting quietly in the corner all alone. The coach came to him
> and said, "Kid, I can't believe it. You were fantastic!

> > Tell me what got into you? How did you do it?"

> > He looked at the coach, with tears in his eyes, and said, "Well, you
> knew my dad died, but did you know that my dad was blind?" The young
> man swallowed hard and forced a smile," Dad came to all my games, but
> today was the first time he could see me play, and I wanted to show
> him I could do it!"

> > > SO - REMEMBER RIGHT NOW:
> * Somebody is very proud of you.
> * Somebody is thinking of you.
> * Somebody is caring about you.
> * Somebody misses you.
> * Somebody wants to talk to you.
> * Somebody wants to be with you.
> * Somebody hopes you are not in trouble.
> * Somebody is thankful for the support you have provided.
> * Somebody wants to hold your hand.
> * Somebody hopes everything turns out all right.
> * Somebody wants you to be happy.
> * Somebody wants you to find him / her.
> * Somebody wants to give you a gift.
> * Somebody wants to hug you.
> * Somebody thinks you ARE a gift.
> * Somebody admires your strength.
> * Somebody wants to protect you.
> * Somebody can't wait to see you.
> * Somebody loves you for who you are.
> * Somebody treasures your spirit.
> * Somebody is glad that you are their friend.
> * Somebody wants to get to know you better
* Somebody wants to be near you.
> * Somebody wants you to know they are there for you.
> * Somebody would do anything for you.>
* Somebody wants to share their dreams with you.
> * Somebody is alive because of you.
> * Somebody needs your support.
> * Somebody will cry when they read this.
> * Somebody needs you to have faith in them.
> * Somebody trusts you.
> * Somebody hears a song that reminds them of you.
> * "Stop telling God how big your mountains are and start telling your
> mountains how big your God is."
> * Don't cry because it is over - smile because it happened!

> > The highest reward for man's dedication to excellence is not what he gets
> from it, but what he becomes through it.
>

Publish on Google Blogger

To: -------------

It is the amount of Hard Work you put in work is more appreciated than the results of the work. But I dont think this is what I see in normal life. Eight Children were standing on the track to participate in the running event.
* Ready!
* Steady!
* Bang!!!
With the sound of Toy pistol, all eight girls started running.
Hardly have they covered ten to fifteen steps, one of the smaller girls slipped and fell down, due to bruises and pain she started crying.
When other seven girls heard this sound, stopped running, stood for a while and turned back, they all ran back to the place where the girl fell down.
One among them bent, picked and kissed the girl gently and enquired .
